The opportunity
The Youth Development Officer – Leadership and Participation (L&P) sits within the Youth Services team and contributes to building resilience in young people.
The Youth Development Officer (L&P) is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and activities across the municipality that encourage and increase young people’s participation in the community, with particular focus on civic participation, leadership skills development and opportunities for young people to have a voice and be heard.
Initiative, creativity and flair, strong planning and program management skills, combined with consultation with young people, will ensure contemporary service responses to meet current and evolving needs.
Youth Development Officers create opportunities at locations across the municipality, having an adaptable approach and ability to create places and spaces for young people to feel welcome.
The position may evolve and change over time so the incumbent will need to be adaptable to the needs of young people, our community and our organisation within the broad scope of the position.
