We are looking for a suitably qualified Community Development Officer to join the team. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of Glenorchy City Council’s Community Strategy key priorities through place-based initiatives, collaborative partnerships, and inclusive programming.
This exciting and rewarding role sits within the Community Department and works closely across Council and with community stakeholders to build a connected, inclusive and resilient Glenorchy. The successful candidate will play an important role in empowering community-led change and supporting programs that reflect Glenorchy’s diversity, pride and potential.
The successful applicant will have:
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in community development, youth work, or a related field, including experience with planning, reporting, and program evaluation.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, delivering and evaluating inclusive community and youth programs, using trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build partnerships and collaborate effectively across community, government, and service networks.
- Experience in facilitating meetings, working groups, or co-design processes, including working with volunteers.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic team environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities, including the capacity to recommend and implement practical solutions.
Qualifications/Licences required:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in community development, youth work, social sciences or a related discipline.
- Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration (WWVP).
- Current Driver’s Licence.
Position Hours: Full-Time, 75 hours fortnight.
