We are looking for a Maintenance Assistant - Gardening to support and tend to our beautiful gardens at SVCS Heathcote. This is a great opportunity to not only maintain the grounds but to connect and collaborate closely with the residents of the independent living units. St Vincent's Care Services Heathcote (locally known as John Paul Village) is a 213-bed facility located 35km from Sydney's CBD. It is situated next to the Royal National Park, one of Sydney's real treasures! We are seeking a friendly, reliable team member who enjoys working in the garden and has landscaping experience. Applicants must have sound knowledge of gardening - pruning, planting, cultivating and maintaining gardens beds and lawns including, weeding, spraying and propagating plants. Other duties include garden edging, raking and sweeping of leaves and nuts, paths, general cleaning of courtyards, rotundas, lift foyers and handrails. This position also requires that the successful applicant support, and cover leave when the maintenance team need assistance. This is a Permanent Part Time/ opportunity 30 hours per fortnight – 15 hours a week. Things that work for us: Gardening and landscaping duties Cleaning and maintaining village grounds, courtyards, paths, ramps and rotundas Ability to perform general maintenance tasks Handyman skills Excellent customer service skills with the ability to problem solve and serve the community Ability to prioritise own schedule of activities Experience working with older and vulnerable people Excellent communication skills Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (within 6 months). NDIS Worker Screening Check will be a requirement of this role.
